What are Chartered Management Accountants?
Chartered Management Accountants are Chartered Accountants who have specialised in Management Accounting.
Management accounting combines financial accounting, cost accounting, financial management, strategic planning, problem-solving, dynamic analysis, strategic decision making, and enterprise-wide risk management. Management Accounting involves looking at the numbers of an organization to gather information on revenue, cash flow, and investment to spot trends, gather vital statistics, perform predictive analysis, and write reports that help the organization make decisions — from day-to-day management to corporate strategy. Management accounting combines financial and non-financial data analysis to paint a complete picture of the organization. Chartered Management Accountants use that to drive the success of the organization. The largest professional body of Chartered Managements Accountants in the world is the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), for which I am a Fellow member.
The CIMA qualification is designed to bring together management accounting, financial accounting and business, so you’ll have the practical skills employers need. Once you qualify as a Chartered Management Accountant, you’ll be qualified to work in a wide range of roles from Finance & Accounting to Business Consultancy, IT to Executive management positions.
